The American Dental Association recommends having a regular dental checkup performed every six months. This cleans your teeth of bacterial matter and monitor the health of your oral tissues. Each checkup performed at Drs. Timothy Ross & Susan Chmiel is designed to address every aspect of maintaining good oral health.

This starts with a thorough dental cleaning, performed by one of our dental hygienists. They will meticulously remove all traces of plaque and tartar before polishing your teeth. If you have any areas of concern, please let them know, so they can give it special attention and give that information to Dr. Susan Chmiel.

Dr. Susan Chmiel will then perform a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, as well as performing a screening for signs of oral cancer. If Dr. Susan Chmiel has concerns about the health of your tooth enamel, he might recommend administering a fluoride treatment. This can be performed at the end of your dental checkup.

It involves your dentist then pouring concentrated fluoride gel into special trays that will be inserted in your mouth along with a small suction wand. This will catch any extra saliva or stray fluoride gel. Afterward, you should try to avoid eating or drinking for up to an hour after the treatment.
